Tree Distribution Program
Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Arlington County's Natural Resources Division is providing the above native tree species for residents. The link above will take you to an arboretum web site that provides photographs and descriptive text regarding the nature and characteristics of each tree species. Type in the common or botantical name of the tree that you're interested in.
The trees being distributed are generally termed ‘whips’ in the nursery trade and are in one- to three-gallon containers. Tree height varies with species but generally ranges between two to four feet.
This year, the distribution event takes place Saturday, October 13 at the Arlington County nursery facility from 8 am to 3 pm. The nursery is located behind the baseball field situated at the corner of South George Mason and Four Mile Run. Parking is available within the parking lot in front of the ball field. All participants are asked to walk to the nursery to pick up their tree.
A golf cart and driver will be available for anyone needing assistance.
Both TreeSteward members and Arlington County Landscape staff will be on hand with information and education materials, e.g. planting guidelines, tree care and maintenance, and species characteristics, for all participants. Staff will also be available to help transport the trees and load vehicles.
Neighbors and groups are being encouraged to make arrangements to pick up trees jointly due to the limited space for parking at the site.
- Only one (1) tree per residental property.
- Mutli-family properties must contact TreeStewards.org to obtain additional species.
- Volunteers at the event will ask you to check in using your name or your group's name.
